In Style?

The crew at the studio was inspired by the outfits Jaime O'Bradovich and Ben Drickey wore a couple weeks ago, so we decided to have a dress up day. Best dressed has to go to Hillary Sinn for her Susie homemaker look. Mike Malone and Geoff Johnson share the most fashionable photographer award. Patty Malone gets the best look of the 50's decade. Nice style!

Costa Rica Pura Vida

Assistant Sam Carter and Husband recently vacationed in beautiful Costa Rica...
Let's just say it was a "once in a lifetime experience". From the mountains of San Ramon to the white sandy beaches of Santa Teresa, we saw it all. We traveled through the central part of the country all the way to the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula. The mountains were covered in lush rain forests with amazing tropical birds, and three toed sloths. We stayed three nights at an Eco-lodge and culinary school called The Inn at Coyote Mountain. It was an amazingly relaxing retreat. It is nice to get away from technology every once in a while. We then headed off to our second destination. After driving for miles (on treacherous unpaved roads) in our 4x4 rental, and traveling across the ocean via car ferry, we arrived in Santa Teresa. This was a surfer's haven. Dreadlocks and ATV's! Here we stayed at Latitude 10° Jungle Beach Resort. This resort is another Eco-loge consisting of secluded bungalows right in the middle of the jungle and on the edge of a private beach. the water was amazingly warm and at night the howler monkeys were amazingly loud. The people we met were great as well. There is not enough time in the day to share all the experiences we had in just one short week! It was a vacation well worth the wait.

We're fortunate enough to get kudos from our clients from time to time. Often the compliments talk about the positive vibe or how easy we are to work with or how amazing the images look after Kate Heller does her magic. This is great but we also like to make sure that the people helping us, the talent or freelancers, are part of that vibe. I call it Flowing Both Ways, meaning we need to take care of our crew just as much as our clients. So when Rhonda Dale, who did a bang up job as talent last week, sent me this email it felt good that she appreciated our approach.

Mike and Team,

I want to express my appreciation for such a professional shoot on the Gold's Gym project in Austin. I was treated cordially throughout the day by your staff, and you and put me at ease throughout the shoot. What a pleasure to work with your entire team of professionals. I look forward to another opportunity to be involved with your firm and hope that you have many assignments here in Austin . . . Texas . . . the Southwest.

Warm regards from the Lone Star State,

Ronda Dale

Code Number

If this were the Bourne Ultimatum this number would have a double meaning, but at Malone and Co this is the number of images Andrew Marinkovich shot last week in a 3.5 day shoot in Miami. It's a new record. We got a lot done thanks to Patty, Angela, and Ann along with stellar editing from Michelle! Thanks to Ken for being our Italian liaison at Randazzo's, the best Italian joint I've eaten at south of Omaha, NE. Great work to the whole crew- get some rest and regroup for Austin this week! If this number is a secret code for anything else, let me know.

Miami Heat

It took a lot of people to help coordinate our Miami shoot. Thanks to all those who put in the extra time and sweat to produce the great images! It wasn't easy holding up traffic, finding people to move their cars, and waiting for the clouds and sun to align, but after all the work in the hot sun, we are back for more this week as Patty, Angela and Andrew finish the job. Thanks to Lora for taking so many great BTS (Behind The Scenes) photos.

Knot Tying

Adrianne got Andrew a great birthday present and set him up with a Story Corp interview. If you don't listen to NPR often- this segment is a good one to catch. Adrianne interviewed Andrew, but she ended up with the final question...
