I was honored to receive a few awards at PPA regional print competition. The image of Logan Flood won first place in the non masters men's portrait. Last summer I photographed Logan and his family at their home in Seward, NE for AOPA Magazine. The story was about how he became a commercial pilot after being in an airplane crash with a cargo company he flew and instructed for.
My overall score with other works placed me at 2nd.
A few thank yous-
Kameron Bayne and Sarah Pfeiffer for pushing me to enter.
Kate Heller for all the magic post work.
Matt Larson for driving to UPS because I sent my prints to the wrong address.
Terry Winslow for connecting with Matt to get my prints in time for the deadline.

A few weeks ago while shooting in Iowa the locals told us about a distillery that was brought back to life from the prohibition era. We headed over to Templeton, home of Templeton Rye Whiskey where Kevin gave us a private tour. There is some cool history about this whiskey including that this was Al Capone's favorite. If you're ever in the area you should stop by and then go pick up "The Good Stuff".

Another full day in NYC and we found alot more cool stuff that we would like to add to our arsanal. Our wish list is growing! We hit a couple good workshops that provided some new bits of info and reinforced that we are on the same page with alot of the industry leaders. Between new lighting and discovering cool new backend software - the best experience was getting our hands on the new Mark II 5d- look for some exciting new possibilities in the near future!
Huge shot out to Peter and Stephanie for letting us crash at their place! It worked out great-THANKS!

So I'm going back to my roots and shooting some film. Yeah right, but I do love Polaroid. Too bad they're stopping film production soon. Check out Save Polaroid for some great info and links.
Andrew got me excited earlier this year with his Holgaroid. I bought one too and then while searching Ebay for film, I found a Polaroid Land Camera 350. It's Rangefinder that shoots pack film (full frame 3 1/4 x 4 1/4) that you can still find. There's even some 667 out there that's rated at ISO 3000. I can't wait to break this in on Saturday at the Wedding Event of the Year. There will be about 10 of us shooting and Andrew has made me the official media coordinator.

This past June Lora Davis and I headed out to LA for a shoot at USC. The 8 minute session was a record for shortest amount of time allowed.
Check out the behind the scenes video.

Last weekend I opened up the studio for Kids Day. We had a blast shooting while raising some money for Operation Smile. The images below were created using our homemade ring light. What fun!
We'll be having our next session in the spring of 2009. If you're interested sign up here.

All of us here at the studio are waiting for the full moon coming this Wednesday. There are many rumors speculating of something new from our friends at Canon. We're hoping this thread is correct. Did you read that part about the video?

Last week I was shooting the nightlife scene at Legends in Kansas City. The Saddle Ranch comes to life with everyone wanting a ride on the mechanical bull.

Earlier this week Anne and I spent a few days in the south. Our first stop was Fairhope, Alabama where I grabbed a few images from the local barber shop. We then headed over to New Orleans before coming home. I was pretty bummed out that A Gallery for Fine Photography was closed. This gallery in the French Quarter has one of the best photographic collections in the US including one of my favorite photographers Henri Cartier-Bresson. Of course we had to grab some beignets at Cafe du Monde. Check out the gallery of our journey.

For the past 6 months the photographers here at Malone & Company have all shot for ONE Magazine. Last month's issue was one that Geoff Johnson and Mike Malone shot of Architect Tom Allisma. Tom's worked on Roja, Blue, and Bianco. We shot the cover story at the new Parliament Pub in Legacy.
