We like rumors

All of us here at the studio are waiting for the full moon coming this Wednesday. There are many rumors speculating of something new from our friends at Canon. We're hoping this thread is correct. Did you read that part about the video?

What kind of function would a camera like this have in your shop? Granted, a FF sensor on a body less than $4000 will be REALLY nice, but if it drops with video, will it be trying too hard to be the all-in-one camera? I can totally see it as a catch-all body for wedding photographers/videographer.

(Also, I'm drooling for one, too. I would love to shoot some video with such selective focus, but I'm currently too lazy to build a 35mm lens adapter for my camcorder...)

Loaded question.
The worlds are converging.
First round I'm sure there will be some snags, but we are drooling for one as well.

It will be a great opportunity to have the option of video...

Andrew,
Maybe it was a loaded question. I agree the worlds (consumer/professional) are converging, and I fully believe we're in a renaissance of photography ( I mean, look at the quality images that are coming off of 1/8" ccd chips in PHONES for goodness sakes).

Still, I tend to question tools that are overly feature-stuffed, even if it is from a top-of-the-line manufacturer like Canon or Nikon. I would argue many all-in-one solutions do all of the things they claim, but none of them to an extent that would warrant professional use.

In the end, practical use will determine the effectiveness of all the features, and I'd happily eat crow regarding this camera (though not out of someone's armpit...I have my limits.)

FYI, dpreview has their hands-on up, if you haven't seen it elsewhere: http://www.dpreview.com/previews/canoneos5dmarkII/

Cheers,
-Chris

Okay, so I just watched Vincent Laforet's Reverie and I think most of my concerns are put to rest. It's about to get ridiculous.

Wow.

Chris- I watched that over the weekend, and my response was also- WOW.

Exciting times ahead. I want one.
